I am a Toronto-based artist specializing in graphite and charcoal portraiture. My work focuses on women, blending the timeless techniques of academic realism with contemporary feminine subjects. Each drawing represents not only the subject’s likeness, but her unique experience and internal world - a fleeting moment, a quiet smile, deep introspection - the nuance of emotion that can only be captured in a face. I aim to portray the beauty, experience and depth of women by merging classic realism with thoughtful compositions and the expressive qualities of the chosen media. Portraits tell a story, both of the individual portrayed and her shared experience with the viewer. My hope is that people connect with the images and find meaning that resonated with them personally.
